UK B2B and professional services businesses typically sell for 3.5× – 5.5×, 6×+ for recurring-revenue leaders, with the top of the range earned by managed businesses with recurring or retained contracts and a spread client base. The bottom applies to founder-dependent practices where clients buy one person's time.

A written, evidenced valuation of an agency, consultancy, managed service, facilities or support business — recurring revenue separated from project income and owner dependence priced honestly. Fixed fee from £495, delivered in three working days.

What the figure usually turns on

  • Recurring versus project revenue

Retained contracts with notice periods are valued differently from repeat project work and very differently from one-off delivery. We split the revenue and apply the multiple that each stream actually earns.

  • Owner dependence and the succession question

If the founder holds the client relationships and wins the work, a buyer is purchasing a job, not a business. A second tier of client-facing management is often worth more to the multiple than another year of profit growth.

  • Client concentration and contract length

Top-three client share, average tenure, contracted notice and any framework or preferred-supplier position all get evidenced. Rolling thirty-day terms do not carry the same weight as a three-year contract.

  • Utilisation, gross margin and delivery cost

Chargeable utilisation, blended day rate and true delivery cost including sub-contract labour set the maintainable margin. Headline revenue per head is not a valuation input.

  • Scalability and IP

Productised offerings, proprietary process, accreditations and data assets separate a service business from a body shop and move the figure materially.

Indicative UK ranges only. Recurring share, client spread and management depth move these figures substantially — your report is built from your own numbers and comparable transactions.

The number turns on retention, not revenue

Service businesses are bought for the durability of their income. Two agencies with identical turnover and profit can be worth double one another purely on contract structure, churn and who owns the client relationship.

We evidence retention, contract terms and management depth, then state exactly how each moved the multiple. Nothing is asserted without a source in your own records.

No sale mandate, no success fee

We don't sell businesses and we take no commission. There is no incentive to inflate the figure to win an onward instruction, and none to suppress it.

That independence is why the reports are relied on by acquirers, funders, HMRC and the courts.

This is for you if…

  • —You're planning a sale, an MBO or a partial exit and need a real number first.
  • —You've received an approach and want it tested before you engage.
  • —You need a valuation for a share issue, an EMI scheme, a partnership split or HMRC.
  • —You're acquiring an agency or service business and want the price checked.
